Graduation, Baseball, Softball, Gary, Leigh Ann and Kevin...and more

WOW...what an incredible two to three weeks it has been over here. Gary and Leigh Ann arrived on May 21st, Kevin arrived on May 23rd. We spent the first day with Gary and Leigh Ann on horses/camels at the pyramids, they really really enjoyed that. The next day they left for their Nile Cruise. They had a great time on that as well..very cultural. On May 25th, Kara's ISST (International School Sports Tournament) began here in Cairo. We hosted 7 other schools from Europe. It was well into the 100's here those 3 days - but it was a great tournament. CAC ended up 3rd place in the tournament. They did much better than expected considering they were in a rebuild year. It was so much fun hosting it, having all the fans here.

After her tournament, Kerry and I went with  Jon's baseball team to Amsterdam, Holland. We left sunny 100's to go to rainy 50's. We were freezing!! It was a lot of fun, but also very disappointing, they won the 1st two games, but the 3rd game they were tied, and the ISST rule for the tie breaker was the team that had the most runners on 3rd. So we lost by that, which put us in the losers bracket, making 5th place the best we could do. The boys were very disappointed, but came out the next 2 games and played very well..taking the 5th place. Next the 1st place team, we were the only undefeated team and somehow ended up with 5th. They are looking now into changing some of the rules after all that.

Amsterdam was a very pretty city, we visited the Anne Frank house, did a nice canal ride and even ventured into the "Red Light District"..what an experience that was!

While we were in Amsterdam, Gary, Leigh Ann and Kevin went to Bahariya Oasis in the Western Desert, other than the uncomfortable ride down there, they had a great time. It is really a neat place to visit...

After Amsterdam...Jon's Graduation...what an awesome day that was! Unbelievable to be at the "Great Pyramids" watching Jon receive his high school diploma. CAC is the only school in Egypt who holds graduation there, so what an honor it truly is.

In between all that, we also had Jon's Senior Project presentation, all the seniors have to do some kind of project for English class, some chose building benches, to learning belly dancing, guitar, salsa dancing, etc..Jon chose to learn how to do stain glass, and he did one with Kylie in it..it was really nice.

We also had Athletic Awards night, where Kara was nominated for Girl Athlete of the Year, and she earned MVP for the girls Varsity Softball..she had over 100 outs at short stop and a batting average of 638! AWESOME!

Well..little Breanna has been sick again a lot with ear infections, so unfortunately on Monday she is going to have to have tubes put in...hopefully after that she'll make it more than a month without an ear infection...

July 9th, me and the kids head back to the states. July 14th Kerry comes. July 17 we head out to Virginia, Maryland to visit with my family and Jon goes on his Alaskan cruise with my mom. We get back from out east for a couple days then go to the Chicago area for a car show/race..after that..we are planning a college visit to Wisconsin for Kara...Concordia University...then a little getaway maybe for Kerry and I for our anniversary..then Aug 11 Kerry and the girls head back to Cairo..I go to Bolivar, Missouri with Jon to take him to school :-( for those of you that don't know, he is going to attend Southwest Baptist University down there.

We'll also spend sometime in Cape Girardeau with Kevin, we are really looking forward to that..I told him he has to cook for his mommy while I am there...his response..we'll order pizza! Typical college kid..huh??

It's been an awesome few weeks, it's hard to believe Jon is graduated and leaving the nest..and next year Kara will be doing the same thing..life will sure be changing for us..not sure we like it..but sure we'll get used to it.

Hope all is well with all of you...hope to hear from you and see some of you while we are in the good ole USA!

Love

Lori...Kerry, Jennifer, Breanna, Kevin, Jon and Kara
